Living in Croton NY amongst the beauty of the Hudson River is where Doris gathers inspiration for her meticulous, vibrant work.  The gifts of Mother Earth and meditation are amongst her most important resources.

Her paintings combine acrylics, inks and watercolors.  Most of her images originate from color washes; a few get inspiration from her own photography.  Outlines enhance all the colors and values she sees.  The many outlines create what seem like random shapes, but on closer inspection, manifest as people, places and things.

When creating the unique and multifaceted surfaces of her bowls, plates and other vessels, Doris begins the process by intuitively picking up stones, driftwood, shells, glass, etc.  She attaches them to a matrix and then incorporates precious objects or keepsakes imbuing them with personal energy and meaning.  These pieces are visually and physically pulled together with grout that has been enhanced with paint and ink designs.

Doris' work allows one to journey into one's own dreamworld.  Everyone who encounters her work sees and experiences something different.
